Geneva - the city of Chocolate, watches, banks and oh yes fur.....
End of August, first part of September found Paul and I in the south of Switzerland in and around Geneva. Paul had a couple of days of meetings while I enjoyed a week away from work. I visited with friends a couple hours to north in Dottikon riding the impeccably clean timely trains one place to the next and back again. I window shopped my way around Lausanne and Bussigny. I just looked and did not shop as I was not in the market for a watch, bank account or fur coat on this trip. Switzerland is such a lovely country. Rolling green hills give way to the steep, jagged, snow capped Alps. Valleys are filled with lakes, rivers and villages. Every where people are friendly and the chocolate is yummie.
Yes - Paul and I spent nearly an entire day with friends walking and eating our way through Geneva. Starting with crepes for lunch outside a building built in the 1400's we moved on to coffee, and then wine over looking Lake Geneva, and finished with a nice Thai dinner at a restaurant down a cobble stone alley off the shopping district in old Geneva. Between snacks, meals, drinks, shops, and old churches we ducked into nearly every chocolate shop we came upon (just for me!) I brought home 6 boxes of different kinds of chocolate. Don't worry I did manage to give away a couple of the boxes and not eat it all myself!! Though it was tempting to keep it and eat it!
We had a lovely week away and a wonderful time catching up with friends. You can see pictures of the Geneva Jet and clock as well as other parts of the city in the gallery section.
