Flying High and Swimming Deep!
Kauai, Hawaii is called the Garden Island, and for very good reason. It is cover edge to edge with a dense tropical jungle. On a dry year the island gets over 200 inches of rain, on a normal year it is one of the wettest places on the earth with over 400 inches of rain! It is amazingly lush and beautiful to see (despite the mosquitoes). Paul and I hiked the Swamp Trail through Waimea canyon, swam in Queen’s bath, snorkeled at Poipu beach, went diving at Tunnels beach, and then took a helicopter ride to see the whole island. We of course enjoyed some shaved ice at Jo's Jo's and then had the best pancakes ever at Tip Top cafe (a dive diner really) near the airport on our way home. It was a wonder 4 days. We flew home on the 4th of July and saw a few fireworks from the plane as we were landing. A perfect ending to our mini vacation.
Pictures are up in the galleries - enjoy!
